Newark, New Jersey-born American rapper, singer, and actor Tracy Lauren Marrow, who is known professionally as Ice-T, is simply one of the greatest entertainers of his era. After graduating from high school in Crenshaw district of Los Angeles, California, he served in the US Army for four years. Before he made it big, he basically survived on the streets, pimping, selling stolen car stereos, and peddling drugs. But he wanted to iron out his life and music was his saving grace. Tracy Lauren Marrow was born on the 16th of February 1958 in Newark, New Jersey, the United States to parents Solomon and Alice. He is of Louisiana Creole (mother) and African-American (father) descent.
His father worked at the Rapistan Conveyor Company as a conveyor belt mechanic. His mother, on the other hand, tragically died of a heart attack when he was quite young. To complicate things even further, his dad also fell victim to a heart attack. This led Tracy to live with a relative in South Los Angeles.
In the eighth grade, he moved to the Crenshaw District of Los Angeles where he attended Palms Junior High and also Crenshaw High School.
At the age of 19, he had a daughter and then enlisted in the United States Army. When he was 21 years old, he received an honorable discharge after serving his country for 26 months. Afterward, he started a career as a Disc Jockey in order to avoid the gang lifestyle.

In 1987, Tracy Marrow, already performing using the moniker Ice T at this time, released his debut studio album titled “Rhyme Pays”. Since then, he has released seven additional solo albums as well as an additional seven with his heavy metal band, Body Count.
